Yes, the Colorado Springs Horticulture Department– did you know we have one? Yes, we have one!
And today, a bunch of us– plant lovers, geeks, and nerds volunteered at the Colorado Springs City Greenhouse, planting native seeds and potting up plants. And afterwards we visited a local native garden by a Colorado Native Plants Society member, and that was awesome too.

It was, really, as others who know agreed, more of same sort of stuff that usually goes on in my backyard. But, on a much more massive scale, and many hands sure speeds things up.
These plants will get planted out city-wide. General Palmer dictated in our city’s by-laws that we must always have beautifully planted medians and/or something, something, such like. Did you know that? I hadn’t. But anyhow, the city has greenhouses.
And we learned. . . how easy it can be to grow plants that are native to this area, and especially, how cheap and easy it is to use poor soil such as matches Colorado’s soil which unironically is just exactly what our native plants adore.
