Dividing, Multiplying, & Harvesting

Wow it’s hot!  Summer’s perhaps arriving sooner than expected.  Lots of dividing & multiplying.  Lots of weeding too.

My potting benches are overfull of propagating attempts.  Not all make it but so many impressively do and I’m as pleased as Punch can be.

Harvesting’s begun too — for nettles, lemon balm, hyssop, comfrey, mugwort, sage, and many more I struggle to keep ahead.  Flowers too – my favorite part – chives and arugula flowers goes into salads, elder flowers are put into a syrup, while roses are dried for future recipes in mind.

I spotted some dragonflies the other day, they seem to be kind of early.  Swallowtails are now more often seen as well.   Even the hummingbird has made its appearance — they’ll be back quite regularly when their favorite flowers are in bloom — and that’s next week.
